Transword FL Crossword Puzzles: select puzzles in French, Spanish, German and Italian.
Remue-Meninges/Jeux from the Bonjour de France site, this series of on-line games offers "find the 10 errors" and other games graded by language learning level. Copy and paste each edition of Bonjour de France onto your hard drive for easy access or note that each new edition comes out twice yearly. For an effective short reading activity for my beginners, I copy the 10 erreurs and la solution; I paste the 2 together on one sheet then print out class copies. In pairs or singly, students read the French then circle the errors.
Apprendissage de Bonjour de France Another super section from magazine Bonjour de France for language learning activities! First, a series of reading selections arranged by language level (2 each for beginners/elementary/intermediates/advanced); each level offers comprehension questions in French. Assign selection and test to students. Second, scroll down to access grammaire en pointillés. Students should read the grammar points then click on ..tester vos connaissances for a 10 question on-line quiz. Super! Use these activities on-line in lab or print out class copies. Foreign Languages for Travelers: click on the language you speak then select a language from more than 20 choices and learn basic phrases, time, weather, and more.
NFLTC: FL Testing Database: Click on Languages and Tests at the Center For Applied Linguistics' excellent and ever-expanding database to access more than 250 tests in 69 languages. For each test, information includes test level, skill(s) tested, test format and materials and scoring method. Readers are requested to add to this most useful site.
Logos Multilingual Dictionary: click on two of 30 country flags to select dictionary choices.

Dictsearch try this site with its link to dictionaries in more than 20 languages. Scroll down to type in word, select dictionary then press go.

College Board On-Line: Advanced Placement Tests On-Line: Scroll down to Search box and type in letters "ap Fr" for sample tests for AP French language or Literature; "ap Sp" for Spanish; "ap German" for German; "ap It" for Italian; "ap Latin" for Latin and so on. At French AP site, for example, there is a site for AP French study skills, AP Lang and AP Lit, sample questions and the required reading list for AP Lit. A superlative site, but hard to access through the general College Board Home page, I find, so try this route.

Say It in French an online mini-course from the French Embassy centering on situations for travelers. The first lesson is at customs. All lessons are suitable for all ages. The clickable French-English dictionary for each lesson is useful too.

TennesseeBob's French Grammar Central offers more than 180 links to grammar guides and interactive exercises on-line from Bob Peckham, the famous Tennessee Bob. Scroll down for exercises on adjectives (check out adjectives de couleur quiz), adverbs, pronouns, verb conjugations and verbal idioms.
Colle francaise a list of 200 or so essential vocabulary words forming the glue (la colle) of basic French language study. scroll to the end for a list of noun endings usually masculine(-age; -ome;etc.) or feminine (-ade; -iere; -ude etc.).

NashvilleNet French Quizzes Online try the online quizzes and pull up the Javascript flashcards to learn French. A useful site for use in the computer room. I assign small groups different lessons;the groups then switch topics after 10 minutes.
101 Questions du francais vivant This Communauté Francaise de Belgique site title says it clearly. Click on each question for a follow-up discussion. Questions include "# 3 why kilometre not millimeter; # 1: can one feminize masculine titles (bien sur! with examples); #10 langage politiquement correct). Select pertinent questions and discussions for each FL level.

Genies en Herbe: OnLine games in French: on-line games in History, Geography, Identifications, and more, all in French. Since answers are given on split screen, I assign small groups of students each a subsection of one type test. For example, each small group studies one section of the 3 geography tests for 20 minutes. I print out one copy of each section for myself. I cut and paste the most pertinent questions from each section to make 20 mix and match quiz for a later information-gap oral class activity. Keeping the same groups as before, students spend 15 minutes asking Who/where/etc. questions in the FL, to get missing information. During the third class, students get into groups to fill out blank versions of the same sheet. They may ask for help in FL only within their group this time. Fun and informative!

Dictionnaire francophone en Ligne visit Hachette's on-line dictionary for all your word searches.
Dictionnaire des Identiés Culturelles de La Francophonie an extraordinary site from Belgium provides an online dictionary with citations for terms dealing with the notion of Francité and la Francophonie. Click on base de données, A, then the section "AA-AH" for example to learn about Antilles, Acadiens, and the Africization of the Cameroun.

Encyclopédie Permanente en Ligne stop at Hachette's on-line Encyclopedia for a dossier of current events topics. Click on géopolitique, or sciences et techniques or sports to read événements du mois throughout the world on that subject.
Dictionnaires En Ligne:Swarthmore College List the premier site for On-Line Dictionaries: multilingual; General French and specific French-language dictionaries including History, Food, Law, Games (Scrabble and Crossword), and sciences. Pull up sources for Internet terms, Acronymes in French, and even emoticons in French :-)
EF Bridge: click on different searches to find a word or phrase by topic (click on tree) or by keyword.
Pedro's Dictionaries: select language of choice at this multi-language dictionary site: 4 French; 4 German; 1 Italian and 2 Spanish dictionaries to peruse.

BIEF Repertoire des Sigles ...dans La Francophonie enter an unknown acronym or sigle from any French-speaking area for a translation and explanation.
Liste des 100 mots click on any of the 100 words in French to access synonymes, opposites, related words associated images and even citations from literature. Use this intriguing site to create poetry or to make illustrated collages.

Mots Croisés et Mots Mystères click on either crosswords or on find-the-word for the latest puzzle in French. Great for beginners' vocabulary enrichment.

Language.Nashville.Net: French and Italian Quizzes practice vocabulary, verb tenses and forms online in either French and Italian.

Dictionnaire/Internautes: choose a cyberterm in French and English (POP or e-mail) and create your own quirky impertinent variations in French or English. Share your definitions with students in France and read their French-language efforts. Hyper pop stuff!
