Cross Country is not fun. The reason for that is simple. Each practice runner attempts to increase her threshold level of pain. The ability to endure pain determines a runners ability to conquer time, distance, and foe. Falling short of ones goal goes hand in hand with ones improvement and learning from the failure makes one a better runner. On the other hand, speed is an interesting concept in that the fastest doesn’t always win. Nevertheless, speed is a prerequisite for cross-country. However, the ability to sustain the pressure of pure pain during a five-kilometer course far outweighs speed. The combination of two will determine which team will become the ultimate champion. This year, the girls varsity cross country team possessed the ability to endure pain and the talent to run fast. The girls combined those two elements and became the Inter-Ac League and the Pennsylvania Independent School Cross Country Champions.
