Middle School Athletic Director, Amy Mallon Middle School Athletic Philosophy The Middle School Program offers a wide variety of interscholastic sports. Students are required to participate in a sport during all three trimesters. Practices and games are held after classes Monday-Friday. Student-athletes learn the fundamental skills and basic strategies of many team and individual sports. They come to appreciate the value of teamwork and individual effort and are taught to display excellent sportsmanship in all situations. Seventh and eighth graders participate on Middle School athletic teams grouped according to ability; sixth grade athletics constitutes a separate program. Ability grouping will expose all athletes to learning environments and competitive contests that are commensurate with their own individual ability. The focus of this program is one of participation with an appropriate emphasis on self-improvement and doing one’s best for the good of the team.
