Student Profiles : Sydney

Hey! My name is Sydney, and I am a sophomore at The Episcopal Academy. This is my first year being a participant in the Cross Bridge Scholars program, and I am really enjoying it. In school, my favorite subjects are English and Spanish, and I am also a part of the key club, drug & alcohol awareness club. I am also starting to write for my school’s newspaper, the Scholium. When I am not in school, I enjoy playing tennis, skiing, and spending time with my friends. Some of my all-time favorite movies are Juno, Titanic, The Lion King, and both High School Musicals. Reading is another one of my hobbies, and my favorite books by far are those in the Harry Potter series.
More than everything I do for myself, I love volunteering and making a difference in my community. I particularly love working with kids, and last summer I ran a day camp for homeless children in Hilo, Hawaii. The kids were extremely thankful, and I had more fun working with them than any other part of my trip there. Locally, I just started volunteering for a local animal shelter, which is fun because I get to play with and take care of animals that don’t have a home. This summer, I hope to volunteer at CHOP, and continue to take advantage of all the opportunities I am given.
